I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.

I believe that the province has not provided any tangible, explicit evidence to the wider public to support it's proposed changes, and appears to be moving in a unilateral fashion, indicting that it wishes to structure decision-making in a way that is less accountable to Ontarians with regards to environmental policy.

The lack of transparency in its decision-making on these matters strongly suggests that the current government is not, in fact, acting in a manner that empowers municipalities to make decisions about their local conservation efforts that they fund, but is conversely working to take away that empowerment so that they may override the wishes of Ontarians and expedite their own agenda to open conservation areas to development.
