To whom it may concern,
I believe this proposal is not a good idea,
1. Why is this merger necessary? There are no details provided as to why this is so vital to our province.
2. Bigger does not mean better; as it stands the conservation areas are managed and run by people who know the area, often live in the area and actually care for the area. A big provincial body will not have that same level of love and care. A body that oversees all conservation areas will not have that
3. Local decision making becomes harder.
4. Mergers inevitably lead to layoffs; this is not good for the economy or those people
Also, this sounds like a great way for a pushy government to try and get things passed so that valuable Ontario resources can be sold off or used of purposes that benefit the current Provincial government without actually having to go through proper channels. The current government has proven it does not care about conservation and is willing to ignore actual reports so that it can sell stuff. Take a look at the Ontario Science Center for proof of that.
