Given the issues seen with the ongoing consolidation of health units in Ontario, regarding amount of time and expense involved in the mergers, disruption of services, seeming lack of synergies, further consolidations of local, mostly rural, services don’t seem like a good idea at present. Having dealt with conservation authorities, more localized service seems relevant. Having an umbrella advisory board/body could be a good idea, in order to harmonize permit processes, online resources such as GIS mapping, and promote best practices for delivery of services in general.
