Hello,

I am concerned that this bill does nothing to ensure each area is accurately represented, but rather looks to consolidate. This would increase the likelihood that a professional for the area is not available due to the broad coverage of the districts. This lack of specialization will cause two things; Firstly those without experience and limited staffing will cause building permits to take longer. Secondly, if they are overloaded with work it may cause rubber stamping to pass the permits and disregard the genuine inspection/knowledge needed to review the area for permits.

Addressing lack of standardization and variable fees ect does not need to be done through consolidation. In my personal opinion this is a look to cut corners and cost, with little consideration to those that are genuinely impacted by poor permitting. People will lose habitat that they loved to visit, considered a feature of their neighborhood/town, and other Canadians will buy homes that are prone to flooding or other issues. If this Ontario government cares for it’s constituents and wants to allow for efficiency with care, they can easily implement a group committee at the top to help districts standardize rules such as fine or other regulations (those which could be as some may very well have reasoning for increased prices or regulation).

As your fellow Canadian, please help protect our wildlife and fellow people. I don’t want lax regulations and restrictions as in my personal opinion (I have remained objective above) this Ontario government has tried to Americanize. I am Canadian and there is a reason I have pride in my nation, keep it that way.

Sincerely,
Ty
