Comment
The Town of Grand Valley, currently within the Grand River Conservation Authority boundaries, generally supports the work that the Province and its authorities are undertaking to modernize conservation authority activities, with the exception of the formation of the new "Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency."
We are not convinced that the establishment of yet another Provincial Agency will reduce bureaucracy nor improve local decision making. We look forward to working together, but cannot support additional resources going toward establishing and funding another bureaucratic layer.
This position was articulated through Grand Valley Council Resolution 2025-12-34:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council receives information from the Grand River Conservation Authority regarding proposed boundaries for the regional consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities;
AND FURTHER THAT staff be directed to submit a letter to the ERO, substantially in the same for as recommended by the GRCA, emphasizing that setting up a new provincial agency does not reduce bureaucracy nor improve local decision making.
