I agree with HCA's submission to the ERO. Losing local decision making authority is unconscionable and will lead to irresponsible and harmful results in regards to land conservation, and the well-being of all those who live within these areas. Only those in local communities have the right to determine the present and future of our surrounding lands and how they are conserved, accessed, used, modified, maintained or built upon. It is us, in these local communities, who have to live with the decisions made, and we do not tolerate the move towards impersonal, unethical, profit-driven decisions being made by a bureaucratic re-organizing without any ties or connection to the daily lived experience of our local communities. We do not support decisions being made without consultation of local communities, nor do we accept the fateful outsourcing of our living ecosystems to entities detached from the consequences.
