I do NOT support this merger. As my money goes to support conservation authorities, I want to keep it local in my own watershed to support efforts locally. There are many issues with this merger:
1. The Province has not provided evidence showing why the merger is needed.
2. Local decision-making will be harder to maintain.
3. Mergers are expensive, and there’s no funding plan.
4. CAs already provides efficient, reliable service.
5. Strong conservation depends on local relationships.
6. Key details remain unknown: Governance, costs, timing, staffing, land management, branding, and community impact have not been explained, which leaves the potential effects of the merger uncertain.
this seems to me to be another way for Doug Ford to get his developer friends rich by controlling the conservation authorities, making it easier to develop lands that should not be developed.
