It is unclear to me as to the intentions of the Ontario Government as they are working towards ammalgamating the Conservation Authorities in our province. Ontario is diverse and effective management of our ecosystems is a critcal part of our success as a province and the safety of the people who live here. The Lakehead Conservation authority manages land in Northwestern Ontario that is significantly different than any other area of our province. This land cannot be effectively managed without the local knowledge and experience that the Lakehead Conservation Authority continues to deliver. It is environmentally irresponsible for the government to group these lands into unmanageable groupings and threaten to our wellbeing and safety. The governements role is to govern and not control the goings on in the province. The poputation in Northwestern Ontario and the LRCA are in best position to manage thier lands and respond to events that threaten public safety.
