I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. The local focus of existing conservation authorities is their strength. I am concerned that by merging them into larger geographical areas, staff will be stretched thin and many areas will be under served. One of the many strengths of the province is its diverse watersheds and geography, which is currently well served by conservation authorities as they exist now. The proposed move will just add another layer of bureaucracy, instead of removing it. The CA branch of MNR used to provide clear leadership and parameters for CAs to operate under. Bring this back.
