I oppose the proposal to restructure the conservation authorities in Ontario. Currently the Hamilton Conservation Authority delivers fast and efficient service and has a strong local relationship with the communities of the City of Hamilton and the township of Puslinch.
The HCA has proposed “ an alternate solution, which would involve setting clear and consistent provincial standards for all conservation authorities, investing in shared technology like a provincial permitting portal, providing stable provincial funding to core programs and operations, and working with municipalities, Indigenous partners, conservation authorities and residents before making major changes”
The HCA knows the natural hazards in the communities, how to safeguard , Crall sources of water, manages all the conservation lands and trails. I’ve been a member of the HCA for decades and appreciate the crucial role our HCA plays in protecting, preserving, and restoring ecosystems and heritage sites such as Westfield Heritage Village. Crook’s Hollow, Dundas Valley Victorian train station to name a few.
