Good Afternoon,
I am writing to strongly oppose the plan to basically amalgamate the 36 Conservation Authority into 9 area offices. This is a recipe for disaster of the environment and completely counter-intuitive since we are already in the throes of a climate crisis. You must understand that if we don't step up more, not less, to save as much of our natural environment as we can then the world is truly doomed. We need as much local understanding and care as possible and someone working out of the Peterborough office or Toronto is just NOT going to have sufficient knowledge of the vast proposed area to do a good job. Prince Edward county where I reside is presently served by Quinte Conservation. They do a good job and already serve 18 different municipalities. This is more than enough!! Please reconsider this plan. I can support your goal to standardize policies and fees etc however this could certainly be accomplished without reducing the number of offices. We also need more staff not less at this time and many of the powers to protect the land, fauna and marsh should be given back to these knowledgeable staff.
Thank you.
