Conservation authorities have had a long history of working with their watershed residents, to ensure property, lives, and the environment we live in is protected against natural hazards. The strong bonds established between conservation authorities and the many watershed stakeholders has been vital in protecting and restoring the natural hydrology of Ontario. Since Ontario has a rich diversity of soils, topography and moisture regimes, it is important to make sound decisions based on each sites unique characteristics. To do this, the expertise that CA staff provide needs to be available in a timely manner, to support both the environment and development. Therefore, we need to ensure staff are located close to each sub watershed, to minimize project delays due to travel times and other inefficiencies related to centralized hubs trying to service broad areas.
