The proposed boundary changes for the regional consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities raise concerns for myself and my community. As a resident of Wallaceburg, geographically located within the St Clair Regional Conservation Authority, and located in Chatham-Kent (Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority) I believe the proposed regions are far too large. The idea of consolidation is not bad it itself, but we must maintain local conservation efforts, using localized expertise to ensure that location-specific features are protected sufficiently. As a smaller community I have concerns that funding will gravitate towards larger centres and our local seat at the table will be diminished.
I ask that you reevaluate your proposed changes and look at more logical unit boundaries. For example, St Clair and Lower Thames may pair well together geographically and socio-economically.
