I am in agreement with the Hamilton Conservation Authority submission to the ERO about the proposed merger of conservation areas.
The proposal as it stands lacks detail on key elements, and there has been insufficient consultation with affected parties and users of HCA. My family has a membership with HCA and use the conservation areas for recreation - hiking, walking the trails, enjoying the diversity of plant and animal life that the conservation area supports. This is a vital role.
I believe working through consultation is the best way to ensure all aspects of the proposed changes are examined from many angles and perspectives, an understanding is achieved, rather than change being imposed in a top-down manner.
I also believe that if new Board members are involved in any new organization, none should be associated with the Building/Development sector.
