I believe amalgamating the conservation is a terrible idea. Considering the distance separating Timmins, Sudbury, and North Bay, it would likely become unmanageable in a way that maintains the level of service we currently have. I would further argue there is no need to change a system that is working in the interest of what I suspect is cost saving efforts. Maybe the province should focus more money on the northern communities it would like to develop for our abundance of natural resources instead of the money it has spent on the underwhelming LRT expansion or tunnelling under the 401. I can’t imagine the cost savings from losing our independent conservation areas would make even a drop in the bucket for these southern Ontario benefits, and yet they would very much prove to be harmful for us in the north. Please do not touch our conservation authorities.
