Regional areas would be much better instead of being fragmented organizations. More consistent decisions. The Sault Ste Marie Conservation agency needs better leadership, strategic direction and oversight. More outdoor activities should be allowed. Recently the board rejected ATV usage on a portion of Connor Road. This would give residents and tourists the opportunity to jump onto a network of crown lands. They could get to Wawa, Echo Bay, Elliot Lake and other towns. There is a staging area already in place. Certain clubs and groups seem to have more influence.
There was also a request by logging companies a few years ago to get access to Connor Road which would of brought up to standards to the road and they were refused. This was a very costly endeavor by the logging company.
Permits would become easy and quicker to get.
