I am deeply concerned with the proposal to consolidate conservation authorities, especially here in Northwestern Ontario - as doing so could impact our sovereignty over managing, educating, risk mitigation, communications, partnerships and actions that impact communities of people and other species in northwestern Ontario. Please let the LRCA remain a stand alone Conservation Authority, to keep local priorities front and centre. Weakening conservation authorities, when Canada needs strong climate resilience in the face of increasing disasters, is not only unwise, but will cost Ontario taxpayers even more if we weaken relations and systems we have in place. 21st century is not the time to weaken conservation authorities, it is a time to support what supports our communities, and out watersheds.
