I do not agree with the proposed amalgamation of the conservation authorities. The environmental concerns of the Essex Region Conservation Authority are specific to this region. We have unique challenges including flat land, impermeable soils, rapid runoff, shoreline erosion, and frequent flooding. Solutions require expertise from those familiar with our region. Local offices and staffing levels need to be maintained. Governance models should continue to allow for local municipal representation.
Our region will suffer under this model. This feels like just another excuse to give more money and power to bigger cities. This is not what I voted for!
