I am greatly concerned with the amalgamation of the conservation authorities throughout the province. We have many specialized environments and regions that our current conservation authorities are very familiar with. I appreciate the knowledge and expertise that arises within the NPCA and the ease with which I can connect to them. They run local programming and have a strong and positive relationship with the community. I do not see the benefit of having staff from orangeville manage and speak to the needs of the environment in Niagara. This amalgamation increases barriers to connect with the local conservation authority and decreases oversights that protect our unique environment. Greater collaboration can occur amongst conservation authorities in the province without forced amalgamation.
