I do not see in any benifit of merging the existing conservation authorities into seven larger bodies.
It is my opinion that the respective Conservation Authorities are the ones that best understand the drainage areas that they have control over.
This amalgamation, in my opinion, would dilute the understanding and particular requirements associated for those areas regarding flood management and environmental protection.
If the attempt is to streamline the application process, then the government should put policies in place for continuity and uniformity from one conservation authority to the next. Development applications that cross multiple flood plain areas should be coordinated with one application so that the applicant only has to submit once for review and approval from those different conservation authorities.
