I live and work within Mid-town Oakville. I have always known since moving to my current address that Mid-town was intended to be a high density area, and have no issue with that. However, I have seen our community and town council work tirelessly over the past couple of years to ensure that the plan is one that will work for Oakville, meeting provincial requirements whilst ensuring livability.
The current infrastructure within this area is stretched as it is. Careful planning is needed to grow in a way that does not exacerbate an already strained situation. The OPA 70 recognizes that. It does not shirk any responsibility to grow the area, but has ensured that the community has had input, their contributions have been heard, and the output is a thoughtful and considered scheme.
The TOC is unnecessary - let Oakville plan for Oakville. We have been respectful of the provincial mandate to grow, the province should be respectful of our process.
