Oakville is a beautiful community and the Ministry's attempt to build multiple high rise condos is reckless and is not in the community's best interest.
The proposed area to build these high rises is a large hub of shops, restaurants and is busy because of the Go Train. The Go train itself is so busy that you can barely find parking NOW. The schools in the area are full and the roads are jammed solid from the Go Station during peak travel times (2-6 pm). All of this is concerning, as those concerns have been ignored.
In a community with many parks, low rise buildings, beautiful trails and a strong community, I shudder to think of how thousands and thousands of extra people and cars will do anything but create more chaos. The proposal doesn't even have enough parking spots included in the Condos (most families have multiple cars), how will the schools, the hospital and the rest of the infrastructure in Oakville cope with this?
There are multiple stores and businesses in the areas and closing them to build a group of condos only drives home that this proposed build will benefit the developers and not the community.
