As you may be aware, these proposed MZOs have generated considerable consternation in Oakville among town officials and citizens alike. I live in Ward 3, which is the focus of these proposals. They would force an extreme population density on Midtown Oakville, with a negative impact on transportation and services that are already overstressed. Moreover, the proposals don't provide for affordable housing, which is the greatest kind of housing need we currently have. Instead, the proposals focus on building new condominiums, for which the market now and in the foreseeable future is quite weak. I'm also concerned that the province shouldn't be unilaterally overriding the democratic, transparent, and consultative processes that led to the Town's Official Plan Amendment for Midtown. I urge you to withdraw the MZO proposals.
