We have lived in Oakville for 30 plus years and raised a family and worked locally. In reviewing your proposal to implement a density level way beyond our cities norm I can not help but be feel that this will change the very structure and livability of our community. At present if you wish to travel on Trafalgar during the various peak periods you already will be in heavy traffic congestion. I realize that public transport is a desire for the future but our city is not currently well set up for this and the numbers represented in this proposal will overwhelm our current roadways. Yes we have a Go Train line there but this only deals with travel east west and mostly to Toronto. We are no longer a bedroom community and a good percentage of our population works and lives in the Oakville area.
As a country we are re thinking our growth numbers and I believe this proposal is based on outdated data on housing needs and types of housing. The city of Oakville has a plan and is responsible to the people that live in the community. Please allow them to make the decisions based on people who live in the area and their needs and wants.
Oakville is a special place and we would like it to remain so.
