It is hard for me to understand how you can maintain the reduction of toxic substances if you are reducing the need for reporting for some industries and commercial concerns. Those that have plans in place will continue, I understand, but new ones who meet the criteria are exempted, it seems. How is this helpful in reducing the toxic substances?
We need to know what substances are being produced, stored, and/or released by commercial entities in our communities. Regardless of their size, these entities can be a threat to the human health of many of us (including first responders). I would like to see the regulations expanded and strengthened, not reduced and weakened.
I would urge you to look at this again. Ontario should be a leader in protecting the pub lic safety through better, and better-managed, regulations in this area.
