As a resident and property taxpayer in this community, I oppose the proposed use of Minister’s Zoning Orders in Oakville.
These MZOs bypass local planning processes and remove decision-making authority from Oakville’s elected council, undermining transparency, public consultation, and local democracy. Developments of this scale and density should go through the Town’s official planning framework, not be imposed by the Province.
I am also concerned about the strain these developments could place on local infrastructure — including roads, transit, schools, parks, and emergency services — and the potential financial burden on property taxpayers to fund required upgrades.
Growth near transit should be planned collaboratively with the municipality and residents, not through provincial overrides. I urge the Ministry not to proceed with these MZOs and to respect local planning authority.
