The Goulais River is an important part of this area and community. My observations from the last three years of living next to the river is that it is a shallow river with seasonal change of the water levels. The proposed sewage disposal is fairly close to: the delta stage of the river, the busy highway and three communities. The stress from the communities, the highway, the ski resort artificial snow runoff with chemicals, the water loss due to snowmaking is already significantly affects the ability of the river to balance it's ecology. The shallow delta area creates a warmer environment were the affects of chemicals, phosphorus is even more pronounced. If this project gets approved the river will be destroyed, it will not be able to sustain the natural environment that depends on it. The released chemicals and effluent will be found in the river, but will be accumulating in the surrounding marshlands and the delta area and will continue to accumulate year after year until an environmental dead zone will be created.
