I write to you as a concerned citizen of Goulais River.
Searchmont Ski Resort Inc. has proposed the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that would treat and discharge domestic sewage effluent into the Goulais River.
I am very concerned about the impact this inadequate system could have on the pristine Goulais River.
Goulais river is the home of many endangered species and many obtain their drinking water from this currently clean water source. Many use this as a form of recreation taking in it's natural beauty on a daily basis.
This treated effluent is not necessarily risk free when released and it is for this reason I am opposed to this wastewater treatment plant. The risk is just too great to our aquatic ecosystems, surrounding habitats and to human health.
Please listen to the residents of Goulais river and do not let this corporation put financial gain over environmental safety.
