It's extremely disappointing…

It's extremely disappointing that following so much external outreach, being the outreach from external organization and First Nations TO the MCM on this matter, that the only changes that have been incorporated are those that further degrade the diligence required as part of the archaeological assessment process. Industry best practices have been in play for over a decade that augment the 2011 S&Gs and integrates low hanging fruit, such as the engagement with First Nations at Stage 1. Companies that implement these practices continue to thrive and be successful and the extra burden is financially limited to the client. There has been so much success with these practices both on the First Nation as well as the proponent side, that it is astonishing this couldn't be integrated as part of the first review of the 2011 S&Gs. It is abundantly clear that there is a lack of commitment of the MCM and the Province to First Nations and that the interests of the "modernization" of the OHA and the S&Gs has nothing to do about doing better, only making it faster and easier for developers.
The MCM and the Province should be ashamed of themselves.
