I support the Province’s goal of streamlining planning approvals to accelerate housing, economic development, and transportation infrastructure. However, the proposed changes should explicitly recognize and include the Landscape Architectural profession as a key contributor to land use planning, site design, infrastructure coordination, and public realm delivery. Landscape Architects play a critical role in integrating parks, open space, stormwater management, transportation corridors, natural systems, and complete communities; areas that are directly referenced throughout the proposed standardized official plan framework. Ensuring the profession is formally acknowledged in implementation and consultation processes will help deliver faster approvals while maintaining functional, resilient, and well-designed communities that support long-term provincial growth objectives.
