Privatizing water and sewage services is not only a bad udea, it is a dangerous idea. Does this government not remember Walkerton? Because I do, vividly. And only facility inspections were altered then. These changes have the potential to kill and make ill many more.
Furthermore, for a government that proclaims itself as a protector of tax payer dollars, you are doing s great job of screwing us. This legislation will transfer assets to a new corporation, but that corporation is not taking any of the debt used to build that infrastructure. Instead the property tax payer is stuck paying it. What's next? Are you going to take away my house while making me continue to pay the mortgage for it?
And where in this proposed legislation does it say that revenues must be reinvested in the system? Because if it doesn't clearly state that 100% of the revenues are to be reinvested then systems will be squeezed for every bit of profit until it falls apart. And then what? Municipalities will be forced to take these, now dilapidated systems back, and once again the taxpayer is screwed.
I know the government thinks that tax payers are stupid, but we're really not.
