This incredibly short-sighted piece of legislation should be cancelled and redrafted without the provision of allowing water to become commercialized. Keep water public. Who is going to want to live in a municipality that allows their water to be managed by a for profit entity. All around the world (UK, Flint Michigan) and here at home (Walkerton, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo), taxpayers have suffered the consequences of poorly thought out, government mandated legislation that puts business first and human lives second. For 30+ years First Nations reserves have lived with a boil water advisory and had to truck water in. These Acts and Bills have the potential (as reviewed by law officials) to risk any progress that has been made in upgrading water systems and improving citizens lives and instead endangering lives and making the current government a laughing stock.
It is shameful.
