The Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge supports MECP Proposal 026-0414. We believe eliminating the requirement for an Environmental Screening Process to change service areas or fill rates for waste disposal site operators will not negatively impact the environment or reduce the opportunity of the public and stakeholder engagement since operators will still need to obtain amendments to their Environmental Compliance Approvals that include public and stakeholder engagement. The Proposal will allow waste disposal site operators to make changes to service areas and fill rates timelier with less cost, which will enable them to manage their sites better to meet waste disposal needs.
