The purpose of Ontario's Toxics Reduction Act, 2009 is too important to be compromised. The concept at the heart of the Toxics Reduction Act, of mandatory preparation, but voluntary implementation, of toxics reduction plans has a record of demonstrated success in jurisdictions such as Massachusetts. The Ontario Toxics Reduction Program appears to need more time to achieved meaningful reductions. If the outcomes do not show improvements within a short time then the government should strengthen the act. The Program will need to move towards mandatory implementation.

This site states that 'Both Ontario and the federal governments require industry to take action on similar toxic substances'. I am pleased to know that Ontario's Toxics Reduction Act, 2009 supplements the federal legislation by introducing substances that are specific to the Ontario's circumstances.

'The purpose of the Toxics Reduction Act, 2009 is to:
- Prevent pollution by reducing the use and creation of toxic substances.
- Inform Ontarians about those substances.'
Please do not remove these important democratic protections from me and the other Ontarians by making your proposed changes.
