I am a student attending Central Peel Secondary School with genuine and concerned speculations regarding the future of our “green” environment due to the proposed changes included in the Amendment to Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Us humans heavily rely on the environment as it maintains and upholds our strenuous lifestyles. And without its befitting qualities such as its vast aquatic features and admirable landscapes, I fear how the next decade or so would pan out for my fellow Ontarians. Like Jennifer Nini, founder of the media brand, Eco Warrior Princess, once said, “being green is more than just buying eco. It is an unshakable commitment to a sustainable lifestyle.”

To begin with, in section 1.1, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing plan on “deleting low-density urban sprawl and replacing it with unmanaged growth.” The issue with this notion revolves around the negligence and inconsideration of urbanization exceeding your preconceived assumptions. The key word to take heed of is “unmanaged”. Leaving the growth of a less populated area unrestricted can ultimately lead to the unnecessary development of profitable land for the generations to come.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
