There has been extremely rapid growth of the Yonge=Eglinton area over the past 10 years largely a consequence of intensive condo development. Funding for, and the appropriate development of, support services and the necessary infrastructure has not kept pace with this growth. There have been many problematic consequences - schools are overcrowded; the aging infrastructure has resulted in sinkholes on major roadways further exacerbating existing traffic congestion and increased incidences of basement flooding - just to name a few. I think that it is essential that both the City of Toronto and the province support the Official Plan Amendment 405 (Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan )in order that a more comprehensive, collaborative planning approach may be taken.
