As a resident of the Yonge…

As a resident of the Yonge-Eglinton neighbourhood who is directly affected by the exponential growth and huge number of condos going up and being proposed, I urge the Ministry to approve the Yonge-Eglinton Official Plan Amendment No. 405. I have participated in the numerous Midtown in Focus consultations, committee and council meetings and was pleased that after all that hard work the City adopted this Plan. We know that our neighbourhood is a growth area and we expect the disruption and inconvenience that goes along with that. This plan will allow growth (in fact it will exceed it) but at least it will contain egregious and dangerous growth. I have lived in this community for eight years and intend to stay here for the long term. However, I do worry about the livability of the neighbourhood especially the stress on infrastructure, utilities and general services. I believe that by adopting this Plan, the Ministry will go a long way to keeping the area livable while at the same time allowing for the construction of much needed housing.
