I have many concerns regarding the application for the new Cruickshank Quarry:
There is a gas line which could be damaged.
The wells of many local people could be compromised as has been the case in the past, both here and at other quarry sites.
Birds and wildlife would be affected and greenspace used for industry in an agricultural area.
The Rideau Trail runs through part of the land which is ear-marked for the quarry, how is that possible?
There are many horse owners in the area. The blasting at the quarry already causes the horses to become agitated. More frequent and excessive blasting, especially during the first stages of opening up the quarry, would be very dangerous for people riding and handling the horses.
Dust is already a problem, the dust would become much worse, causing asthma and other health issues.
Noise pollution is also of great concern, not only from the blasting but from the truck traffic which is already heavy on Cordukes Road and which would be 24/7 if Mr Cruickshank's application is accepted
