The proposed changes to this Act are very dangerous and would have irreversible negative consequences for Species at Risk in Ontario. The science is clear that these species need more protections, not less. Many of their populations and habitats are still declining despite current protections. The pay-to-kill/destroy provisions in this proposal are particularly dangerous and upsetting. I urge you to seriously consider the comments submitted by Ontario Nature and rework this review. Yes, the Act needs updating, but this is not the way to do it!
