In general we are opposed to extraction below the water table without further studies being done to examine the cumulative effect on the aquifer and water table. In the past the MOE/GRCA had requested a moratorium on digging below the water table until this was completed but to my knowledge was never completed. It is important to consider more than just the isolated impact of one gravel pit as the ground water is impacted by all the gravel pits collectively each one contributing a small amount to the total. I would respectfully request that this cumulative impact be completed prior to granting this request. I am also opposed to any activity that could potentially impact the quality of water negatively. For eg by increasing the vulnerability of our drinking water.
