I support the proposal to change the bait setback from 200 metres to 30 metres since Black bears can wander wherever they want and bait distance requirements wont keep bears away from public roads, trails etc. Also making hunters and guides carry bait a long distance from roads and trails is pointless since where bears are actively hunted makes bears wary of humans and is a service to public safety, therefore bait (for the purpose of hunting) placed near a road or public trail could potentially make the area safer for the public by making bears fear humans.
Bears at a dump are sometimes fearless because they cannot be hunted there, bears at a hunters bait site learn quickly to avoid humans because there is very real danger to them.
