I disagree with these proposed changes. 30 metres is far too close to trails and greatly increases the risk of the public encountering bait stations. MNRF policy for staff stipulates that staff working within 1000m of a baited area follow different safety protocols. This policy exists for a reason. It is unreasonable to expose the public to such an increased risk of encountering a bear while enjoying recreational activities, especially if they are unaware and unprepared.
