I believe this is a positive change. As noted the current 200 meter requirement is overly restrictive. Getting the amount of bait required to effectively bait bears to a bait site often requires the use of roads and trails. Reducing the distance makes it easier and less cumbersome for those of a older age, younger age, or those with a disability who wish to put out bait for a bear hunt. It then makes it easier for those same individuals to participate in bear hunting over baits as it is easier for them to access. I agree with the reduced requirements as the 30 meters makes it easier for all to interpret and follow the rules properly. It’s easier for all to setup baits 30 meters from any and all roads and trails even those that are private. Being someone interested in trying bear hunting for the first time I was put off by the rules and restrictions. Being more clear and less restrictive is more likely for me to take part in a bear hunt incorporating youth, seniors, and those with disabilities too!
