Thank-you for bringing this proposal forward. I am an avid Bear hunter and the 200m rule was just plain unnecessary.
The vast majority of Bear hunters do not set-up bear baits near public trails to begin with. We set our bait stations as far away from human trails as possible because if Bears smell or sense humans they re-locate and want nothing to do with that area.
For older hunters with joint issues this rule change would be highly favorable. It is a lot to ask an elderly hunter to walk 200m to his stand through very often rough terrain. This has caused many of them to give up bear hunting altogether.
