On one hand I can buy more bait and have more bait stations. This would contribute to the local economy and better help to keep the bear population under control in the area.
On the other hand people may think that there will be more bear / human conflicts 2 to the closer proximity to roads and trails. However if a bear is concentrating on a particular bait pile they are more likely to make a B-Line for that location. Bear human conflict is very rare. However bear bait piles that include carcasses of roadkill deer or livestock can create a perimeter of territory that a mature bear may feel they need to protect.
Therefore I believe any bait piles that are less than 200 m from a roadway or marked trail can contain bait other than the carcasses of Roadkill or livestock.
