RE: Proposal to reduce the minimum distance requirement for placement of bait from rights of way and trails for black bear hunting
This is a ridiculous and incredibly dangerous proposal. It will effectively allow hunters to bait bears much to close to trails that families, bikers, hikers and dog owners all use, putting them at much greater risk for a bear encounter. It would also mean that these people would be much closer to people using firearms and bows and arrows to shoot bears with. 30 metres away from someone shooting a gun a bow, this is the basis of a negligence lawsuit in the making. Seriously, what are people thinking? The proposal should be to ban all baiting of bears outright, anywhere. It is inhumane and unsportsmanlike and should not be allowed. Period.
