Less than one month is entirely too short a time for consultation regarding the proposed changes to the Heritage Act. The Heritage Act already provides for adaptive reuse of heritage buildings so that, for example, a decommissioned heritage church can be adapted for housing, or a designated mansion can be turned into an apartment house, but if the heritage act is made any weaker than it already is, we will lose most of what makes our communities livable and beautiful. This government is coming across as a dictatorship--pretending to listen to "the people" but changing, for the worse, everything that is of value to "the people" and doing it to so many aspects of our lives, too quickly and all at once so that there is no time to respond to all of them. This is clearly just another attempt by the Ford government to support developers at the expense of "the people" and the results will be irreversible. This is like a slap in the face to so many volunteers who have been working so hard to protect our built heritage.
