Absolutely irresponsible to reduce the current distance to 30 meters for setting traps to bait bears. Not only do I never want to be on a trail such a short distance away from where a hunter or hunters are waiting for an unsuspecting bear to appear. A bear that is shot will run at least this distance before expiring...and that is if it is fatally injured. 9 mm bullets will travel 2000 m before hitting the ground.I can't believe a government agency charged with being responsible for good decisions would think this made any sense what so ever.
Who will be held to account for misfires, injuries even death resultant from this policy change? Will it be the public servant who formats the written policy, the elected official who proposes and passes it, the lobbyist who lobbied for it, or even the electorate for electing a government such as this one, that is hell bent on causes pain as a return for the favour.
Unbelievable.
