I am a permanent resident living within 300 metres of both the proposed quarry expansion area as well as the current quarry in operation today - and I and other neighbours I have spoken to, are greatly concerned regarding the aggressive plans of Fleming Construction Ltd. to expand operations via a new licence application. In particular, the proposal incorporates greater extraction depth than the current quarry as well as a reduced setback area, from 52 metres to 30 metres along the perimeter and I and others like me, have grave concerns about these proposed activities with regards to health and safety for humans and wildlife, as well as risk to our precious water sources and habitats, from well water to streams to Lake Couchiching itself. This most recent EBR posting, requesting tonnage conditions be implemented on the site plan as opposed to the licence/licence schedule allows Fowler to requests easier changes/additional amendments in the future - not requiring the same approval process or community involvement or notification. We as residents have learned this the hard way over the many many years that the quarry has been in operation, starting as a 20,000 ton? quarry and now at 300,000 tons Please say No to this proposal and any expansion of the Fowler Fleming quarry, above and beyond current operations....
