First of all I am not opposed to hunting. But I do enjoy hiking and canoeing which include using portage trails. I object strongly to the proposal to reduce the minimum distance requirement for bait placement. This will endanger trail users by luring bears closer to trails. It also endangers trail users by putting them in closer proximity to active hunters. In addition, having rotting bait near trails will reduce the enjoyment of trails by users. The proposal should be scrapped.
